On the Boards

“Missing middle” is a commonly-used term that refers to the range of housing types that fit between single-family detached homes and mid-to-high-rise multi-family buildings.

Laraarchitecture is designing and developing a pocket neighborhood of missing middle, zero lot line homes on a special site in a small city east of Oakland. Anchored by a 300-year-old Live Oak with views to Mt Diablo, and a shared village green, the site is a two-minute walk to BART and downtown services and amenities.

The design process begins by asking what is the best and highest use of this 3-acre parcel 1) for the Earth, 2) for the neighborhood and community at large, and 3) for those that will someday live there.

We will update this page as the project unfolds.
