Community, Preservation and Sustainability are the core concepts that result in a project that weaves a gentle density increase into the surrounding single-family neighborhood. The California Density Bonus project creates a very low income unit and addresses missing middle housing needs with a variety of housing types that surround a shared village green.
Anchored by a 300 year old Heritage Oak tree, residents will meet their neighbors at their community garden, the bike shed, or run into eachother on the nature trail. The project was designed to balance preservation of natural site features, and address housing shortage with 17 single family, zero lot line homes, (20 new housing units) ranging from 1000 sq. ft. to 2000 sq. ft and including three 500 sq ft. ADU’s with separate entrances.
A remainder lot is part of the subdivision which carves out and preserves the Lafayette Hillside Memorial, a sacred space and regional landmark.
Current status can be tracked at the City of Lafayette Major Developments page.
